Spring Fun in the Boston/NH area

Spring is upon us according to the calendars. It does seem like here in New England the weather is starting to take turn towards 50 degrees. I am hoping for a nice warm spring. People have told me that they have seen some crocus but I have not, hopefully soon. Looking for some fun things to do this spring:

  1. Watch Groupon and Living Social for good deals as of 4/1/14. Currently Living Social has a deal for Coco Keys and Groupon has a deal for Boston Rock Climbing.
  2.   Middlesex Fells Reservation and take a hike. Kids love this. Maybe have a nature scavenger hunt.
  3.  Hike Monadnock Mountain
  4.  Canobie Lake Park on Sunday in May or June--not crowded and a ton of fun.
  5.  Bike on the rail trails in the area, Nashua, Derry, Lexington, MA.
  6.  Walk the trails of Minuteman National Park--on the weekends sometimes they have people reacting the times of the revolutionary war period.
  7.  Friendly Farm in Dublin, NH
  8. Drumlin Farm has some activities on the weekends for family.
  9. Joppa Flats in Newburyport is also a great place to go.  It is beautiful and they have great programs about ocean life. Their programs are reasonably priced especially if you are Mass Audubon member.
  10. The Big Apple Circus is in Boston March 25th to May 11th
  11. Take a ride on the Swan Boats in the Boston Public Garden, meander through the Garden to the Make Way for Duck Statutes, take some photos and then wander over the Boston Common and stop at the playground.

  1. Playgrounds
  • Columbus Park in downtown Boston. Play at the playground and then head over to carousel and fountains in the summer.

  •  Castle Island playground. Walk around the fort and then get an ice cream as Sullys.
  •  Endicott Park in Danvers is nice little park.
  •  Stagefort Park in Gloucester is a great park overlooking the ocean.  Some grassy area to run around.

    Walking with Dinosaurs

Walk with Dinosaurs is coming back to the United States. I am hopeful it will come closer to Boston than Newark (July 2014)or Montreal (August 2014). It is a great show for dinosaur lovers. The dinosaurs are life size so it is better to get the higher seats. It was very educational and kept the attention of our 3 year old son. I have been watching the show closely to see if it was coming back since it was overseas for the past few years
